Drag Selection Mode

When configuring plates or transfers in <flow>, users are given multiple ways to multi-select items.

One way is through the select configuration bar that sits just below the plate being configured:

There are 3 options:

Select All - Select all of the items on the plate

S - Single select, selecting one well at a time.

R - Row select, selecting one row of wells at a time. (Note: while plates are placed vertically in the i.prep, the row ordering is consistent with SBS standard.)

C - Column select, selecting one column of wells at a time.  (Note: while plates are placed vertically in the i.prep, the column ordering is consistent with SBS standard.)

The selection method available is a drag select - for example, clicking and dragging from one corner of a plate to the opposite corner will select all wells.

Finally, there is one last selection method, but for a slightly different context. I’ll pivot to the transfer configuration view:

I have prepared two plates, added a transfer, and selected a source tube. I can use the drag select to select multiple destination wells.

By default, wells are selected in ‘row’ order - so, for example, 1, 2, 3 and 4 correspond to wells A1, A2, A3 and A4.

What if I wanted to select the wells in ‘column’ order?

Just head to the settings menu, locate the ‘Drag Selection Mode’ drop-down and select ‘columns’:

With columns selected, drag select the wells once more - wells 1, 2, 3 and 4 should now correspond to A1, B1, C1 and D1!
